Talking vs. Communication

In typical development, talking becomes a major enhancement to communication after children have mastered the other aspects of communication. Conversely, children with autism often learn to talk without the other communicative elements in place. This can lead to unnatural or dysfunctional attempts at conversation.

But parents have the power to unlock the crucial missing elements and guide their children toward meaningful, reciprocal communication.
